What is the PEACH study?

Our study explores whether Practice Nurses can empower people with T2D to more actively self-manage as well as be more active in how they engage with their GP’s, and thus help achieve a more “intensive” style of treatment. We propose to conduct a randomized controlled intervention trial using Practice Nurses as ‘Coaches’ to empower patients with T2D to engage with their GP’s in the management of their condition.

A key significance of this NHMRC funded project is that it will use a novel, evidence-based, Australian-developed method of patient empowerment (COACH program) to enhance engagement of patients with their GPs in order to achieve evidence-based T2D treatment goals.
